There is a detail about the standard FL home that traveling persons are particularly aware of. The guest bedroom is almost always located next to the garage. FL homes have no basements. FL walls do not absorb sound. FL garages house many things. Noisy things. Water heaters, sprinkler systems, air conditioning hoses, softeners, washers, dryers, etc... Bedrooms seems to be set up with the head of the bed next to the garage wall. Garages seem to be organized with all of the equipment that makes a house run located next to the bedroom wall. There is a new item in my life that has succeeded in drowning out all of these irradic, awakening neccesities. It's amusing how excited I am about this! I may become dependent!

The Sound Machine! Thanks, Kristina and Darla!

A good cup of coffee is to be savoured. Not gulped. I do not cherish lukewarm java. The windowsill of a southern home is the perfect place to preserve your preferred heat as coffee is sipped. Mr. Sun shoots the rays for sure!

Notice the pretty view out the window in the above picture. As far as subdivisions go, we are presently visiting my most favorite one in all of FL. It is called Longleaf Plantation. It is designed to have central courtyards, each block has alleyways, there are sloughs and ponds alongside the walking paths, panthers, bobcats and gators reside in the neighboring state park. There are few stipulations - the homeowners have freedom to choose what kind of bush to plant, what kind of carpet to have, what color of walls to paint. Two conformities is that each home is: to have a front porch and the garage is not to be front & center! How nice! They are colonial style, homey and family friendly.

| Splendid courtyard! Never mind that this area is below sea level and that grass is always full of water. |

ReplyDeleteWe bought Baby Larson a matching sound machine. Doesn't it give you warm fuzzies to picture him falling asleep to the same fake rain sounds in MN as his auntie is falling asleep to in FL? :-)
ReplyDeleteI use waterfall. ahem. You'll have to make sure it's the same! ha
ReplyDeleteWe need to get the same machine so we can feel included. It would probably make more sense than running an empty vaporizer (which is NOT empty in the winter).
